INTRODUCTION :- Socio-economic survey is very essential to know about the socio-economic development of a area , place or a village. In socio economic survey we prepare demographic details household category wise, population status, lives stocks details of village, education status, lang holding and cropping pattern. Annual income and expending of a family etc .Once village information is collected and analysis the change that take place in the entire village as well as in each individual family. From such kind of survey we know the actual condition of area that what kind of people lives in that area. We can be able to know the economic condition that what type of economic activities are done by them.It also tell us about their educational status and self dependency.

Population status,age Structure, Sex Ratio, literacy rate, Cast, Religion & Economy :- Phumen Ingti is a small village located in Diphu Circle of Karbi Anglong district, Assam with total 36 families residing.The total geographical area of village is 35 hectares.The Phumen Ingti village has population of 181 of which 90 are males while 91 are females as per Population Census 2011. 

           In Phumen Ingti village population of children with age 0-6 is 32 which makes up 17.68 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Phumen Ingti village is 1011 which is higher than Assam state average of 958. Child Sex Ratio for the Phumen Ingti as per census is 1909, higher than Assam average of 962.

            Phumen Ingti village has lower literacy rate compared to Assam. In 2011, literacy rate of Phumen Ingti village was 67.11 % compared to 72.19 % of Assam. In Phumen Ingti Male literacy stands at 78.48 % while female literacy rate was 54.29 %.

           In Phumen Ingti village, most of the village population is from Schedule Tribe (ST). Schedule Tribe (ST) constitutes 98.90 % while Schedule Caste (SC) were 1.10 % of total population in Phumen Ingti village.

             The economic condition of the people of the village is not so good. Most of the people depend on cultivation.

              Most of the people of this village is karbi tribes. They practise traditional religion which is animistic in nature.

Need for studies :- Field studies create opportunities for the students  of acquiring experiences such as development of critical thinking, positive attitudes towards science, appreciation for nature, and increased scientific curiosity. Cognitive development and motivation are also enhanced when students are active participants in the planning of the field study and in the activity itself.

              The village should be studied  to know about its people and the demography composition of the village.

              The basic infrastructural facilities such as hospitals, drinking water, schools, electricity facilities of the village should be studied.



Aims and objective :- The aims of the field trip are the expose the students to identifying, profiling socio - economic status, finding various problems in this village. Students should know about the places and they should have to acquire general knowledges of different places, about its people and culture.Somr objectives are given in below-

(a) To know about the local areas, it's past and present and verious problems of socio - economic condition. 

(b) To know about the education status of the particular village.

(c) To know about the people of different caste and their culture.

(d) To know about the economic background of the village and the families.

e) To know about the health and hygiene of the villagers and medical facilities of the area.

(f) To know about the water supply and electricity etc.


Methodology of data collection :- The methodology of data collection is door to door method. Groups of students visit to each individual's house and asked the questions to them. Data was collected through personal interview, discussing with each family's members about there lifestyle, occupation, culture, and everything about the village.


Finding of the Survey :- 

(a)65% of children of respondents of the village are under matriculation, 20% of the respondents are college students, and only 15% of the respondents have completed graduation. 

(b) Only 40% of the respondents have toilets in their home.

(c) 70% of respondents have expressed there opinion that their main source of income is agricultural work. 20% of respondents do daily wage labour for there daily living. Only 10% of respondents do some other jobs where they got monthly wages.

(d) 10% of respondents have responded that their annual income is 60000. 20% have responded that their annual income is above 60000 rs. 30% of the respondents said that their annual income 40000 and 40% of respondents responded that their annual income is below 40000.

(e) Only 30% of respondents have LPG gase, two wheeler scooters, TV etc.

(f) 90% of respondents have got electricity facility, 10% have used solar energy for their daily use.

(g) 90% of the respondents have studied in government schools and 10% of the respondents have studied in private schools.

( h) There is no public hospital in this area.

(i) Public bus service is available within 5-10 KM range. Private bus service also available within village.


SUGGESTION :- (a) Roads and other means of communication in the village should be improved.

(b) Agriculture should be modernized.

(c) Villagers should be educated regarding scientific method of cultivation.

(d) Electricity facility should be provided

to each house of the village.

(e) Rural banking should be set up for financial assistance to the village people.

CONCLUSION:- Phuman Ingti village is lack of proper healthcare facilities. A proper drinking water facility is another big problem faced by villagers living in the area. The condition of the  village school is not satisfactory. It is found that the villagers don't understand the importance of education. A large number of children are engazed in economic activities. They have limited knowledge on health and hygiene. On the otherhand because of poverty and lack of awarness they fail to make benefit of government scemes So the government and the NGO's should take responsibility to make them aware about the facilities already available for them.
