               He became invisible by swallowing special drugs that made his body transparent.

             Mrs. Hall found him eccentric because he always covered his face with bandages, wore dark glasses, avoided people, and behaved in a  rude manner.


2. Describe the extraordinary behaviour of Mrs. Hall’s furniture.

Answer: One morning Mrs. Hall entered the scientist’s room and was shocked by a series of strange happenings. First, she heard a sudden sniff close to her ear, even though no one was visible. The next moment, the hat on the bedpost jumped up and struck her face. Before she could understand anything, the bedroom chair seemed to come alive. It sprang into the air and charged straight at her with its legs forward. Terrified, she and her husband turned to escape, but the chair pushed both of them out of the room. Then the door slammed and locked itself as if controlled by an unseen force. Mrs. Hall ran downstairs in hysterics, convinced that the room was haunted by spirits and that the stranger had brought these ghosts, which had entered her furniture.
